Crèche of Jamestown is delighted to invite you to our 125th Celebration: The Josephine Gala. This premier event will be held at The Athenaeum in Chautauqua Institution on October 18, 2025. The evening will feature an exciting live auction, as well as, a silent auction with unique items and experiences, a cocktail hour, dinner, and delightful sweet treats. Guests will also enjoy a captivating showcase on the evolution of Crèche over the past 125 years.
Travel back to our beginnings in 1900, when Josephine Fenton Gifford and her friends began sewing garments for babies at WCA Hospital and funding maternity care for unwed mothers. Crèche went on to equip, decorate, and maintain hospital wards while funding the care of hospitalized children and fulfilling a $20,000 commitment to WCA.
Today, we continue to support organizations like The Chautauqua Center, UPMC, local schools, youth sports, camperships, emergency referrals, holiday gifts, and more.
Crèche is comprised of dedicated volunteers committed to creating opportunities and providing essential assistance to those in need. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, your attendance and sponsorship help us expand our reach and continue supporting children and families in the greater Jamestown area.
